The short, honest version.
395local.com is built to respect your privacy. Here's exactly what happens.
What we collect
- If you subscribe to the Thursday email: your email address (and first name, if you give it) and which area edition you chose. That's used only to send you the newsletter. It's stored with our email provider, Mailchimp.
- When you visit the site: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which gives us basic, aggregate traffic numbers. It sets no cookies and doesn't build a profile of you or collect personal information.
What we don't do
- We don't sell, rent, or share your data.
- We don't run ads or ad-tracking.
- We don't require an account to read anything.
Do Not Track
Some browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal. We don't track you across other websites and we don't run ad trackers, so the site works the same whether that signal is on or off. What we do count stays anonymous either way: Cloudflare Web Analytics gives us aggregate traffic numbers, and our own simple counters keep daily totals of things like how many people visit, use the newsletter sign-up, or tap “Add to calendar” or “Share” on an event. None of it uses cookies, and our counters never store your name, email address, IP address or anything that identifies you. A few small notes stay in your own browser (for example, whether it has been here before). To leave yourself out of our own counters, visit 395local.com/?notrack=1 once in each browser you use.
Place and class pages show a map from Google Maps, and our pages load their fonts from Google Fonts. Loading these sends your browser's IP address to Google, the same as on any site that uses them; Google's privacy policy covers how it handles that.
Your choices
Every newsletter has a one-click unsubscribe, and you can change your area editions from any email. Want your information removed entirely? Send us a note and we'll take care of it.
