A calendar the whole Eastern Sierra can share.
395local.com is a free community calendar and directory for the Eastern Sierra — one place to find what's happening, from Lone Pine to Mono Basin.
What it is
395local gathers events from across the region into one calendar, organized into two editions — Bishop & Area and Mammoth & Area — plus a directory of the organizers and venues that make things happen. Everything is free to read, with no logins, no paywalls, and no ads.
How events get here
You don't have to submit anything for your event to show up. We find events automatically: we scan local sources across the Eastern Sierra, and a small crew of volunteer Event Scouts photograph flyers off community boards. Those get read, sorted by area and category, and published to the calendar — usually with their own page, a spot in the running for the Thursday email, and, when there's a photo, a post to our Instagram.
If we've missed something, the fastest way to flag it is the community WhatsApp group.
The Thursday email
Once a week, a single Thursday-morning email rounds up the week ahead for your area. It's the easiest way to keep up without checking the site. Sign up here.
Who's behind it
395local is a small, independent project — tended by a crew of local volunteers who make it happen, along with me, Andrew Angus. It's less a company than a small fire we keep lit together so a town has a place to gather.
Years ago in Halifax I built an activist community calendar that helped scattered neighbors find each other. 395local is me carrying that same idea forward: gathering the flood of good things happening across the Eastern Sierra into one place, so a town can see itself and find what it has in common.
These days I run it from the road, in a converted school bus.

Keeping it going
395local.com is free for everyone, always. It's a small thing a few of us keep going so the whole Eastern Sierra has one honest, ad-free place to see what's happening — kept by the community, not by big tech or advertisers. If it's useful to you, chip in to help cover what it costs. We keep it lit together.
